Seva Sahayog Foundation aims at engaging socially conscious corporates, groups and individuals, with NGOs of matching interests. Currently they use receipt books and hard copies for managing donation receipts. Our team developed a responsive APP for managing recipt generation and donation management. This system will be able to reduce the usage of paper by a significant percentage, and will be an important step towards making the Seva Sahayog Foundation office a paperless office.
A few months ago we started a movement - doing things differently. Every Friday evening, we do different things - working on an open-source gem, doing open-source projects, learning new things and having fun.
Its actually making a difference - its now open to the community.
Its been covered by Softpedia and Smashing Magazine
We wanted to solve these problems:
eJOSH is a custom CMS. eJOSH is Rails application that comes with a list of pre-defined layouts and color themes and it is ready to use to build your website or to use for your intranet with it's available plugins (employee management, Leave management, Timesheet management, etc..) and it has built in user management (with 3 different roles).
It has built in dynamic sitemap generation for SEO compliance. Capistrano default configuration is included that can be modified to fit your needs.
We have felt the pain of integrating static pages into a Rails application. There are plenty of gems available for this (Radiant, Locomotiv, etc.) but they are very heavy for what we need.
So, we built FeatherCMS. As the name suggests, its a Do-It-Yourself, lightweight CMS - just pages, caching and nothing more!
SPlat is an integration platform to make use of SMS integration really easy. It ensures single point of integration, supports changing vendors without changing code, sending and receiving SMS, scheduled delivery and tagged groups. It isn't a SMS gateway but a generic layer on top of it. It was presented by Gautam at Lone Star Ruby Conference, 2010.
ISPunity is an open source application that integrates multiple Internet connections for load balancing and failover. It 'magically' balances the Internet load over these different connections. This also means that the more connections we use, the faster and better connectivity we get! It also automatically handles failover to another connection in case any of the lines go down
We at Josh, have been participating in Rails Rumble since 2012 and Bidder is an outcome of Rails Rumble 2013. Bidder is 2 player game built in Rails. It uses Slanger for sending and receiving asynchronous requests. People enjoyed this game at Josh so we continued working on Bidder. We hosted Bidder knockouts games in RubyConf India 2014, and the winner recieved a Bidder T-shirt. The response was overwhelming. We still work on Bidder in our Open Source Friday meetups.
